Vintage Friday

I found this vintage pattern at the thrift store last week. I paid twice the original price...$.50. I love these books but they are getting harder to find in my area. I am looking for finger wt. yarn to crochet the bed jacket seen on the cover. I have wanted to make one for years. I would also like to knit the headband the little girl is wearing in the second picture. The pattern seems fairly easy. I might even attempt the hat the little boy is wearing. Both are very cute.

Kylie's tote

This evening I finished this tote bag as a gift for Kylie while we are on vacation. I actually did the needlepoint a few years ago but never completed it because I couldn't find buttons I liked. I found these last year but still didn't sew the bag because I wasn't sure how to do it with canvas pockets. Last Friday I was looking at Home Sewn by French General and it had the exact bag I wanted to make. I was able to finish it in less than two hours. I have the supplies to make one for Abbie also but I need to finish stitching the background  on the canvas. I should have it done by tomorrow night. I used denim for the outside and fabric left over from the girls quilts to line the inside. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I just might make one for myself later this summer. I have a couple pieces already stitched that would look cute made into a bag.

Vintage Friday

I finished this vintage candlewicking project earlier this week. It went very fast, one morning to do the knots and another to add the trim. When I made my first candlewicking project in the 1980's I didn't like doing the knots. I think I made one pillow and that was enough for me. Recently I found several  kits at thrift stores and gave it another try. I enjoyed doing this small kit and have plans to make a few more things. My grandma loved doing candlewicking and even made a bedspread. I have a couple unfinished Christmas projects that belonged to her and hope to get them done this year.
